Abstract:Because of the advantages of simple and robust configuration, high reliability and low cost, the doubly salient electromagnetic motor (DSEM) has a broad application prospects in high speed areas. Core-loss predication is an important issue in the design and analysis of electric motors, especially in high speed application. However, because of the serious uneven distribution and local oversaturation of flux density due to the doubly salient structure, together with evident DC-biased induction and skin-effect in high frequency, it is difficult to predict the core loss in high speed DSEM exactly. In this paper, an improved core-loss calculation model in consideration of DC-biased induction and skin-effect is established. A new approach for determining the coefficients of core loss is proposed. The coefficients in dependence of DC bias and flux density amplitude are investigated. Finally, the calculation and analysis are verified by experimental results.
