Abstract:the wound-field doubly salient machine is especially suitable for starter/generator in HVDC power supply system. It has a good prospect of application in aircraft due to its high reliability. To reduce the output voltage ripple, a two-section interlaced-rotor structure is adopted. When only one section is needed to work as a starter, the no-load line Back EMFs of the other section can be applied to sensorless control in medium-high-speed regions. The positive-going zero cross points of the no-load line-to-line voltages are detected to estimate the rotor position. Besides the advantages of simplicity and reliability, this method is not affected by armature reaction and PWM chopping. Further experiments confirm the feasibility of the proposed method. © 2019 IEEE.
