Abstract:This study presents the design and implementation of a starting control system with an LC filter for an aircraft start generator (SG). Based on the optimal design of the filter, a small-signal model is built to account for improved stable and dynamic performance. The transfer function is deduced to tune the control parameters of the whole system. The design of the controller aims at a 75 kVA SG drive system and is verified in a digital signal processor. Finally, simulation results are obtained to predict the behaviour of the starting control system during a transient duty and experimental results show characteristics of the starting process. © 2018 Institution of Engineering and Technology.
