Title of Paper:Broadband dielectric measurement using an open-ended coaxial based on time domain analysis with improved accuracy at low frequencies

Journal:IEEE Mtt-S Int. Wirel. Symp., IWS - Proc.

Abstract:An open-ended coaxial is commonly used in liquid complex permittivity measurements at microwave frequencies. In this paper, an improved method with simplified calibration is proposed. Time domain gating method is utilized to remove unwanted reflections. A mapping relation between complex permittivity and complex reflection coefficient is formed by full-wave simulation. A splicing method is applied. Measurements of distilled water, ethanol and methanol as well as their uncertainty analysis are carried out to verify the proposed method. The results agree well with reference data. The proposed method shows improved accuracy at low frequencies. © 2018 IEEE.
