Abstract:This paper focuses on analyzing the diversity of damage mechanisms of glass fiber-resin composite materials (GF-EP) resulting from different weaving methods by using acoustic emission (AE) technique. In the study, the experiments were carried out by continuous monotonic loading of three types of samples under uniaxial tension until failure with simultaneous recording of the parameters of acoustic emission signal. With the wavelet analysis and k-means identification clustering, the analyzing outcomes display that the AE parameters of diverse specimens with different fiber weaving are variant, especially for fiber-breakage signals. Results of this study demonstrate the potential of an AE based approach to identify the damage of various fibrous layers. © 2018 IEEE.
