Abstract:A bidirectional three-phase DC-AC converter with an embedded DC-DC converter for storage interface is analyzed and evaluated in this paper. With the help of the embedded DC-DC converter, a constant and stable intermittent DC-bus can be provided for the three-phase converter. Different from a conventional two-stage DC-AC converter, only a small ratio of power needs to be processed by the embedded DC-DC converter. Therefore, the conversion stages and power losses of the whole DC-AC converter are reduced. A novel carrier-based (CB) PWM strategy is presented for the proposed bidirectional three-phase DC-AC converter. By injecting a zero-sequence component into the modulation signals, the power processed by the embedded DC-DC converter is minimized. Operation principles, characteristics and implementation of the proposed solution are analyzed in detail. The feasibility and effectiveness of the presented solutions are evaluated with experimental results. © 2018 IEEE.
