Control Strategy of Power Factor Correction Converter for Fast Dynamic Response and Low Output Voltage Ripple

Abstract:The ouput of power factor correction (PFC) converter with active storage unit (ASU) is an excellent method to reduce the output voltage ripple. The control strategy of three-phase Boost PFC converter with Buck-type ASU is studied in this paper. Firstly, this paper proposes a dual feedforward control strategy with generated sinusoidal reference for Boost PFC to make up for the shortcomings of the current reference distortion and the poor dynamic response in the traditional double closed-loop control of Boot PFC. As a result, the output stability is improved and the phase-shedding speed is accelerated under input or output transient. Additionally, an adaptive control of ASU is proposed, in which the current reference changes adaptively according to load, line frequency and output capacitor. The aims of simpilified control and efficiency optimization are achieved in ASU. Finally, the proposed control strategy is verified by experimental results of an 1.3kW prototype. © 2019, Electrical Technology Press Co. Ltd. All right reserved.
