Abstract:The surface of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) was covered with insulating zinc oxide (ZnO) in order to prepare a thermally conductive, but electrically insulating, RGO-based hybrid filler(ZnO-RGO). The ZnO-RGO fillers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscope(SEM) and thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA). The results show that ZnO is coated on the surface of reduced graphite oxide sheets. The filler is put into silicone to fabricate silicon composite. When the amount of ZnO-RGO is 1.0%, silicone composites maintain an electrical resistivity of 1.1×1014 Ω•cm, and the thermal conductivity is 0.325 W/(m•K), which is 80.5% higher than the conductivity of the pure silicone. Mechanical property of silicone composites has raised of certain level. The tensile strength is increased by 143.7%. The elongation at break shows a rise of 123.8%. The shore hardness grows from 39 to 50. © 2018, Editorial Board of Polymer Materials Science & Engineering. All right reserved.
