Robust flight envelope generation approach for mars entry using uncertainty quantification and reachable controllable sets

摘要:This paper investigates a robust flight envelope computation framework for Mars atmospheric entry under uncertainty. First, the deterministic Mars three degree-of-freedom dynamics and constraints are used to iteratively calculate the reachable sets and controllable sets throughout the initial state to terminal state of Mars atmospheric entry. Then, the nominal Mars entry flight envelope is preliminarily obtained through intersection calculation based on the reachable and controllable sets. Next, the Mars atmospheric entry dynamics model with uncertainties is formulated as a three degree-of-freedom entry dynamics with stochastic variables, and the uncertainty propagation in the stochastic Mars entry dynamics is iteratively quantified by polynomial chaos algorithm. Finally, the robust Mars entry flight envelope is obtained through iteratively intersection calculation based on the nominal Mars entry flight envelope and the results of uncertainty quantification. Numerical simulations demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed calculation approach and verified the performance of the generated Mars entry flight envelope. © 2018, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA.
