Abstract:In order to master the combustion organization method of small-scale triple swirler further, experiments were conducted to study the combustion performance of single sector combustor and multi sector combustor at different inlet airflow velocity and combustor overall fuel-air ratio (FAR) with fixed atmospheric pressure. The test results show that compared with the combustion performance of single sector combustor, each combustion performance of multi sector combustor has been deteriorating to various degrees, and the ignition FAR and lean blow out FAR of multi sector combustor increase by 25% and 100% respectively compared with the corresponding performance of single sector combustor at the same operating condition. Through in-depth analysis, the main reason of multi sector combustor combustion performance deterioration is the unsuitable flare angle, which leads to the interference in adjacent primary zone airflow, and this interference on combustion performance is especially obvious at low FAR. For multi sector combustor test rig, whether the flare angle is too large or too small would lead to the deterioration of the combustion performance, so the reasonable flare angle is crucial for multi sector combustor and full annular combustor, and the most reasonable flare angle matching multi sector combustor obtained in this paper is 37.5°. © 2017, Editorial Department of Journal of Propulsion Technology.
