摘要:Theoretical and experimental studies on the detection of high-temperature metal surface imperfections are discussed. The finite element method (FEM) is employed to simulate the detection of the position and size of metal surface defects at high temperatures by a scanning laser point source. The simulation results show that an enhancement appears when scanning the generated laser spot over the defect. With the increase in defect depth, the amplitude of the reflected wave increases and the amplitude of the transmitted wave decreases. An experimental system was built, which is in a non-contact mode, by utilising a laser point source to generate the surface acoustic wave ( SAW) and an interferometer to detect the SAW signal. The corresponding experimental results verified the feasibility of numerical simulation and achieved the relationship between the peak-to-peak amplitude of the surface-transmitted wave and the defect depth at 500 degrees C. The achievements of this research provide a potential application for detecting surface defects on metal at high temperatures.
