Analyses of shape parameters' influence on the aerodynamic characteristics of ducted tail rotor

摘要:In order to predict the flowfield and aerodynamic characteristics of ducted tail rotor, a numerical calculating method is firstly developed with multi-block structured mesh and sliding mesh technology to solve the URANS (unsteady Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes) equations. The MUSCL (Monotone Upstream-Centred Schemes for Conservation Laws) reconstructing approach and LU-SGS (lower-upper symmetric Gauss-Seidel) implicit scheme are employed to improve the calculating accuracy and efficiency. The HLLC scheme and S-A (Spalart-Allmaras) turbulence model are adopted to compute convective flux and viscosity coefficient respectively. Then, based on this numerical calculating method, the flowfield of ducted tail rotor has been calculated and compared with available experimental data, verifying the validity of this method. At last, the influences of shape parameters on the aerodynamic characteristics of ducted tail rotor are analyzed and the calculating results indicate that the gap, diffuser angle and the lip radius have great influences on the aerodynamic characteristics of ducted tail rotor, from which some meaningful conclusions are obtained. © 2019 The Vertical Flight Society.
