Abstract:Nanocrystalline Ni coatings were prepared by the customizable droplet contact electrodeposition (DCE) process. The effect of process parameters on the microstructure and properties of the coating was investigated by adjusting the voltage. Studies have shown that as the voltage increases, the coating undergoes a transition from being porous to becoming dense, and it eventually cracks and flakes. As the thickness of the coating increases, the hardness increases (without the influence of the substrate). By controlling the process parameters, the coating can have a dense structure and good corrosion resistance so that it provides surface protection. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd.
