Abstract:This paper presents a novel approach for simultaneously identifying the impact location and reconstructing the impact force history acting on a composite structure. The unknown impact force history is first expanded by a set of basis functions and then impact force reconstruction is reformulated to find the coefficient of each basis function. Bayesian regularization is employed to solve the ill-posed coefficient identification problem and reconstruct the impact force history. For identifying the impact location, a heuristic Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm is employed by minimizing the error between the measurements and the predicted responses. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated by numerical studies. © 2017 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
