Abstract:In this paper, we propose a three-parallel co-prime array (TPCPA) configuration for two-dimensional (2D) direction of arrival (DOA) estimation. TPCPA consists of three co-prime subarrays that have N, 2M and N sensors with inter-element spacing of N, M and N units respectively, where M and N are co-prime integers. Compared with the conventional parallel co prime array (PCPA) and uniform linear arrays (ULAs) with spacing of half a wavelength, TPCPA can obtain more degrees of freedom (DOFs). Then, after vectorizing the cross-correlation matrices, an augmented matrix is constructed for enhancing the estimation performance. Finally, both spatial smoothing and sparse recovery (SR) algorithms are employed to fully use these DOFs. Besides, the least square technique is employed for auto pairing. Simulation results show that, the proposed configuration can achieve great performance improvement compared with others.
