Welding parameter optimization of electron beam welded GH4169 superalloy based on orthogonal experiment and numerical simulation

Abstract:Due to the high efficiency, precision and excellent welding joint properties, electron beam welding(EBW) has become a preferred welding method for a variety of materials, widely used in the aerospace industry. In this study, the EBW orthogonal experiment of 3 mm thick GH4169 superalloy panel was carried out to explore the effects of accelerated voltage, beam current and welding speed on the performance of butt joints. In addition, a three-dimensional finite element model was established to describe the residual stress and deformation generated during the EBW process. In the model, a combined double ellipsoid and conical heat source was adopted, and the influence of the clamping and gravity on the simulation calculation was fully considered. The actual welding conditions were simulated and reliable results were obtained. As a result, the optimized parameters were got for 3 mm GH4169 and they are the accelerated voltage of 60 kV, beam current of 20 mA and welding speed of 20 mm s-1. Base on the parameters, the simulation results provide the temperature and residual stress distribution, as well as the deformation trend of the EBW process, which was verified by the experiment. Furthermore, the finite element model can provide reference for the process optimization of the complex components EBW and multi-process welding in the future work. © 2018 IOP Publishing Ltd.

魏艳红,南京航空航天大学教授、博导,英国剑桥大学访问学者,国际焊接学会(IIW)C-XI委中国代表,中国机械工程学会江苏省焊接学会副理事长。哈尔滨工业大学焊接专业博士毕业后留校工作2006年2月引进南京航空航天大学。

长期从事焊接工艺智能设计及仿真优化研究工作,形成了自主知识产权的系列焊接工程应用软件,可以完成焊接性分析、焊接工艺智能设计、焊接工艺智能评定、焊接在线监测、焊接应力变形分析、焊接组织与力学性能预测。所设计的软件成功应用于各种航天结构件、军机部件、发动机机匣、雷达天线、轿车车体、工程机械、动车车体焊接中。

致力于焊接模拟仿真人才培养,为哈尔滨工业大学、华中科技大学、南京航空航天大学、南京理工大学、重庆大学、合肥工业大学等培养和输送了优秀教师。
