Supervisor of Doctorate Candidates
Prof. Xiaolei Wang has started his research career on tribology since 1985 when he got his first job in China University of Mining & Technology, mainly concentrated on the technique of condition monitoring and failure diagnosis, including ferrograph and oil analysis. From 1997, the time in Tohoku University, Japan, his research interest moved to water lubrication and surface texture design. These researches have been continued since the time he worked in National Institute of Standards & Technology, USA as a guest researcher from 2003 to 2005, and currently in Nanjing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics (NUAA), China.
He has built up the Tibology & Surface Engineering Lab in NUAA, in which more than 80 students have obtained master degree, more than 10 students have obtained Ph.D degree.
He has published more than 200 scientific articles, which have been cited more than 7000 times in Google Scholar. He is on the list of the top 100,000 scientists or a percentile rank of 2% or above in the sub-field in the world (https://elsevier.digitalcommonsdata.com/datasets/btchxktzyw/6).

He is on the editorial board of the journals "Tribology", "Industrial Lubrication and Tribology", "Surface Science and Technology", etc. He was ASME 《Journal of Tribology》 Associate Editor until 2024.
