Abstract:In order to solve the problems of high cost and complexity of the open winding permanent magnet synchronous machine (OW-PMSM) system based on the dual-inverter, this paper proposed a novel low-cost four-leg converter for OW-PMSM. On the basis of analysis of the active voltage vectors and corresponding SVPWM strategy for the four-leg converter, the asymmetric distribution rule of the dead-time voltage due to the multiplex bridges was presented for the current distortion analysis. The compensation method of the average dead-time voltage for the proposed system with the separated zero-sequence control scheme was given to suppress the current harmonics. The total harmonics distortion (THD) of the currents could be reduced to 5% or so, and the proposed drive system with the four-leg converter could achieve the same output performance as the OW-PMSM with dual-inverter. Simulations and experiments verify the effectiveness of the dead-time analysis and the proposed suppression strategy. © 2018, Electrical Technology Press Co. Ltd. All right reserved.
