Abstract:This paper proposes a nonlinear control strategy for the Vienna rectifier with unbalanced input voltages. With this control method, the dynamic response of output voltage can be effectively accelerated and the dc bus capacitance can also be significantly reduced. The effect of dc bus capacitor is analyzed in details, which reveals the reasons for the output instability under traditional controls. A model has been established when the three-phase voltage is unbalanced, and the corresponding passivity-based controller is designed as the current loop to minimize the output voltage ripple at twice the power frequency. To improve the dynamic performance of the system, a sliding mode controller has been designed as voltage loop. Simulation and experimental results from a 10kW Vienna rectifier verify the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed nonlinear control. © 2019 IEEE.
