Abstract:A dual-band high-gain slot array antenna based on SIW (substrate integrated waveguide) is proposed in this paper. The antenna consists of 2 arrays working on 9.87∼ 10.25 GHz and 27.29∼ 40 GHz, which can meet demand on X-and Ka-band, respectively. Two substrates sandwiched between three layers of metal are employed and all slots are located on the second metal layer. A slot along the mid line manages to convert the electromagnetic energy between slotline and the higher order mode SIW. The antenna achieved |S11| < -10 dB from 9.87∼ 10.25GHz and 27.29∼ 40 GHz, and had a high front-to-back ratio radiation pattern on E-plane after simulated and modified with CST Microwave Studio®. The results demonstrated that the gain was up to 10.95 dBi (10GHz) and 8.758 dBi (37GHz). The antenna applied to both microwave and millimeter wave system shows promised prospects. © 2018 IEEE.
