A Broadband Polarization Insensitive Metamaterial Absorber Based on Three-dimensional Structure

Abstract:A three-dimensional microwave metamaterial absorber based on the stand-up resistive film is proposed in this paper. The absorber has wideband absorption, lightweight, and polarization insensitive properties. The absorber is consisted of two orthogonal stand-up resistive film patches backed by a metallic plane The two orthogonal stand-up resistive film patches can excited multiple standing wave modes. Most of the incident electromagnetic energy is dissipated by these standing resistive film patches. The absorber possesses a fractional bandwidth of 14% with the absorption above 90% in the frequency range from 1.6 to 9 GHz. Moreover the absorber is extremely lightweight which can be applied to stealth technologies.
