主持项目:主持国家自然科学基金重点项目、国家重点研发计划“增材制造与激光制造”专项课题、装备预研共用技术重点项目、领域基金重点项目、国防基础科研计划、军委科技委基础加强计划、国防科技创新特区项目等30余项。

学术奖励:以第一完成人获江苏省科学技术奖一等奖、高等学校科学研究优秀成果奖(自然科学奖)二等奖、德国洪堡基金会Fraunhofer-Bessel研究奖、德国科学基金会Mercator Fellow奖、中国航空学会青年科技奖、空军“创新杯”科技创新大赛优胜奖等。

团队建设:国家自然科学基金委员会创新研究群体“飞行器整体结构的制造与监测”青年学术骨干,江苏省高校优秀科技创新团队“金属构件激光增材制造技术”带头人,江苏省第十五批“六大人才高峰”创新人才团队“结构-性能一体化轻合金构件激光精密增材制造”带头人,南京航空航天大学首批百强创新团队负责人。

成果应用:在高性能金属构件激光增材制造装备、材料、结构、工艺等方面形成了具有自主知识产权的关键技术,申请/授权国家发明专利38项、PCT国际专利3项,研究成果在航空航天单位20余种典型构件研制生产上获得应用。

Brief Biography of Prof. Dr. Dongdong Gu 

Prof. Dr. Dongdong Gu is currently a Full Professor of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) and the Director of Jiangsu Provincial Engineering Laboratory for Laser Additive Manufacturing of High-Performance Metallic Components. He started his research on direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) of Cu-based alloys and composites in 2002 and received his Doctorate of Engineering in Materials Processing Engineering from NUAA in 2007. He was an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow in the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT/Chair for Laser Technology LLT, RWTH Aachen, Germany (2009-2011). He had research stays in Fraunhofer ILT/ RWTH Aachen (2013), Cardiff University (2018), and University of Duisburg-Essen (2019).

Prof. Gu is presently the Senior Editor of Journal of Laser Applications (AIP Publishing), the Assistant Editor of International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture (Elsevier), the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering: Additive Manufacturing Frontiers (Elsevier), the Senior Editor of International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing (IOP Publishing), the Senior Editor of Chinese Journal of Lasers, and the Editorial Board Members of Additive Manufacturing (Elsevier), Additive Manufacturing Letters (Elsevier), Virtual and Physical Prototyping (Taylor & Francis), Applied Surface Science (Elsevier), International Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing (Springer), and Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering (Springer).

Prof. Gu is the Standing Committee Member of the Additive Manufacturing Technology Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES), the Standing Committee Member and the Deputy Director General of the No-conventional Processing Institution of CMES, the Standing Committee Member of the Extreme Manufacturing Institution of CMES, the Standing Committee Member of Laser Processing Committee of Chinese Optical Society (COS), and the Programme Committee Member of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS).

Prof. Gu’s principal research interest is laser-based additive manufacturing of high-performance/multi-functional metallic components. He obtained the financial support from more than 30 projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the National Key Research and Development Program, the Science Challenge Project, the Basic Strengthening Program, etc. Prof. Gu, as the first-author and/or corresponding author, has authored/co-authored 2 monographs (Elsevier 2022 & Springer 2015) and published more than 200 papers in a number of international peer reviewed journals (More than 90 papers published in recent five years), including one paper entitled “Material-structure-performance integrated laser-metal additive manufacturing” in Science (https://doi.org/10.1126/science.abg1487). He applied/authorized 38 national invention patents. He served as the Co-chairman, Executive Chairman, Academic Committee Member, and Keynote/ Invited Speaker in more than 40 academic conferences held in China, Germany, the United States, Australia, and other countries.

Prof. Gu was granted the international academic awards such as the Fraunhofer-Bessel Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Germany (2019), the Mercator Fellow Award from the German Research Foundation (DFG) (2018), the China Top Cited Author Award from the IOP Publishing (2018), the Most Cited Chinese Researchers from the Elsevier (2020 and 2021), and the “Green Talents” from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) (2012). Prof. Gu was also awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars from NSFC (2022), the First Prize of the Science and Technology Award of Jiangsu Province (2019), the National “Ten-thousand Talents Program” - the National High-level Personnel of Special Support Program of China (2018), the Youth Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics (2017), the Second Prize of the Natural Science Award of Ministry of Education (2016), the Cheung Kong Young Scholars Award from Ministry of Education of China (2016), the National “Ten-thousand Talents Program” - the Top-Notch Young Talents Program of China (2015), and the Excellent Young Scientists Fund from the NSFC (2013).
