  • Abstract:Active rotor with trailing-edge flaps is an effective and promising method to alleviate vibration of rotorcrafts. In this paper, a comprehensive aero-elastic model of active rotor with dual trailing-edge flaps is established. The rotor blade is modeled using FEM method. And the additional aerodynamic loads induced by deflection motion of trailing-edge flaps are calculated using Theodorsen's quasi-steady aerodynamic model. For an active rotor model with 3 blades, control signals of 2/rev, 3/rev and 4/rev harmonics are considered in this study. And the passing-frequency vibratory loads of rotor hub are calculated. Differential evolution algorithm is utilized to optimize the control laws of the trailing-edge flaps. Simulation results indicate that active rotor with trailing-edge flaps can significantly reduce hub vibration, and the active rotor with dual trailing-edge flaps have higher vibration control authority. © 2019 The Vertical Flight Society.
