Title of Paper:A Novel Control Method for Single-Winding Bearingless Switched Reluctance Motor to Reduce Torque Ripple and Radial Force Ripple

Abstract:Because of the double-salient-pole structure of Bearingless Switched Reluctance Motors (BSRMs), the problem of large torque ripple and radial-force ripple will be brought when using the conventional control method. In order to solve this problem, a direct instantaneous torque control and direct force control (DITC&DFC) method is proposed in this paper. By the way of torque hysteresis control and selecting equivalent voltage symbols, the proposed method can directly control torque and levitation forces at the same time. In addition, the current hysteresis control loop is removed, which simplifies the control algorithm together with the improvement on the control performance. The levitation mechanism and the principle of the proposed method are demonstrated in detail based on a 12/8 single-winding BSRM. Based on the Matlab/Simulink simulation and the test rig established in laboratory, the feasibility of the proposed control method has been verified according to the simulation and experimental results. © 2018, Electrical Technology Press Co.
