Abstract:In this paper, the model predictive current control (MPCC) method for the doubly salient electromagnetic machine (DSEM) is proposed and investigated for current ripple suppression. The fundamental principle of the MPCC for the DSEM is introduced. The predicted current model is deduced and the objective function for current ripple reduction is constructed. With the help of the method of Lagrange multipliers, the optimal voltage vector and its duty cycle are obtained by the proposed MPCC method. The proposed MPCC method is analyzed and compared with the traditional hysteresis control methods in terms of phase current performance. Finally, the analysis and simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed MPCC method for current ripple suppression which can contribute to the improvement of the torque performance further. © 2019 IEEE.
