Abstract:In view of optimization problem for transportation corridor among the urban agglomerations, the traditional BPR function was firstly improved, by introducing traffic capacity impact factor as well as the method to distinguish the type of traffic flow, and the travel time reliability measurement model of transportation corridor among the urban agglomerations was established. Secondly, bi-level optimization model was constructed in which the lower one was the optimal user equilibrium while the upper one was the function with the goal of maximizing the transportation corridor reliability. Finally, the theoretical method was applied to the case of optimizing transportation corridor among the three major agglomerations in Nanjing City. The research results show that reliability measurement method based on improved BPR function is more suitable for the calculation of reliability of high-grade and medium-and-long road sections. It can objectively reflect the characteristics that the transportation corridor capacity between agglomerations could be easily affected by the transit traffic. After using bi-level optimization model, the overall reliability level of transportation corridor among the agglomerations in Nanjing City has been increased by about 11%, of which difference of reliability in original transportation corridor has been obviously reduced and the central city and the surrounding roads of Jiangning District has the increase of reliability by 15%. The problem of low reliability in central city has been validly solved. Compared with original planning method, the optimization method has increased reliability by 6%, and the road traffic flow has decreased by about 4% on average, revealing the fact that the new method improved road reliability better, and the original method more conducive to road traffic distribution. The method is effective in relieving the problems of uneven distribution of road reliability and low reliability of roads in central city, providing a theoretical basis for the optimization decision on the transportation corridor between urban agglomerations. © 2017, Editorial Department of China Journal of Highway and Transport.
